The UK Trade Union Council suggest that union members assist in assuring:
1. Higher pay and better working environment.
2. Being treated with respect at work.
3. Stopping Bullying and discrimination.
4. Healthier workplace (health and safety).
5. Legal assistance.
6. Career growth (exposure to aspects of the organisation outside of operational activities)
7. Stabilising the workforce and improving South Africa's economic prospects.
